Bizzell Group Maternal & Child Health Services

The Bizzell Group (Bizzell) is committed to advancing positive health outcomes for pregnant women and children.

Bizzell has provided expertise and continues to support efforts “to help strengthen the maternal and child health infrastructure and to help to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all women, newborns, children and adolescents” by providing expertise in data collection and program analysis, best practice recommendations, and technical assistance in support these goals:

  • Improvement in maternal and newborn health
  • Reduction in child injuries, abuse, and neglect
  • Improved school readiness and achievement

The United States lags behind other developed nations in preventing pregnancy-related deaths, and in 2015 the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) was 26 deaths per 100,000.  Contributing to the MMR ratio is the somber fact that in the U.S., approximately 25% of all women do not receive the recommended number of prenatal visits.

Women who receive no prenatal care are three to four times more likely to have a pregnancy-related death than women who receive prenatal care. The need for quality medical care is critical during pregnancy, at birth, and remains high during the first years of a child’s life.

Maternal & Child Health Services Overview

Improving the health outcomes of women and children (ages 0-6) across the spectrum of care and the range of years for children is a top priority for Bizzell. Bizzell provides expert knowledge and has worked with groups, agencies, and governmental entities to strengthen the care delivery system and has supported organizations that teach parents how to provide nurturing and supportive environments for children to grow and develop.

Early intervention is “a system of coordinated services that promotes the child’s age-appropriate growth and development and supports families during the critical early years.”

Early intervention in a child’s life is a critical component of health care and can help mitigate adverse influences that may hinder the natural development of a child by providing support and resources needed to promote the best developmental outcomes.

Every child is unique, but most children develop at roughly the same rate. However, development does not always follow a straight path and when interventions are needed, the earlier the intervention, the better the outcome.

Bizzell recognizes that when you heal mothers, you heal the world, and it will continue to lead, support, provide resources to, and offer its expertise to help ensure that mothers and children have the best possible health outcomes.
